Alley Theater announced Cambodian Rock Band as the second Hubbard production of the 2022-23 season. Co-produced with the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Cambodian rock band’s signature theatrical production is by Lauren Yee, featuring songs by Dengue Fever and directed by Chay Yew and runs from January 20 to February 12, 2023.

This dark and funny new play with music tells the story of a Khmer Rouge survivor who returns to Cambodia for the first time in thirty years, as his daughter prepares to pursue one of the country’s most infamous war criminals. Cambodia. Backed by a band playing contemporary hits from Dengue Fever and Cambodian classics, this thrilling story swings through time as father and daughter grapple with the music of the past. Lauren Yee offers us an intimate rock epic about family secrets against a dark chapter in Cambodian history.

This production is already included in full season subscription packages and will be available for purchase of single tickets at the end of the summer. Tickets for the Cambodian rock band will start at $28. Discounted tickets will be available for military members, senior citizens, and any student or educator, regardless of age, with a valid student ID for designated shows.
