Los Angeles rock band Hello Stranger released their new single “True Belief” today.
The new song is accompanied by a music video, which you can see below. Singer Sam Deffenbaugh had this to say about the meaning of the song:
“I was inspired after seeing Che Guevara shirts on sale at popular, conservative retailers. It’s infuriating to see historical figures and artists taken out of context – from Joe Strummer to MLK Jr. ‘True Belief’ exposes these hypocrisies .
“True Belief”, which is currently available on digital services, is the title track from Hello Stranger’s upcoming EP. The three-song release will be released on August 26. Deffenbaugh had this to say about the studio DIY approach this time around:
“We had these incredibly current and salient songs that we had been working on for months, but it was difficult to get into the studios or collaborate with the producers. Like many other artists did at that time, we decided to do it ourselves. We have been liberated; able to make music when and where we wanted, to say all the things we knew was important to say, and to freely pursue our musical inclinations wherever they might lead us.
After the release of the EPs, the band will continue to work on their third studio album.
