The Van Wezel welcomes classic rock band Kansas

The Van Wezel will host the KANSAS in Sarasota on Friday January 28 at 8 p.m.

With a legendary career spanning nearly five decades, KANSAS has established themselves as one of America’s iconic classical rock bands. This Topeka garage band released their first album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don kirshner. The group has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

Composing a catalog that includes sixteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three six-fold-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show). ), a quadruple platinum single “Carry On Wayward Son” and another triple platinum single “Dust in the Wind”. KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ’70s and’ 80s and performed in sold-out arenas and stadiums in North America, Europe and Japan. “Carry On Wayward Son” continues to be one of the five most played songs on classic rock radio, and “Dust In the Wind” has been played on radio over three million times!
